Referring back to Shayla.com Update Alert (06/20/12), I neglected to credit Maverick as shooter of that photo set. However, we now have photographic evidence of him as the man responsible.

Minion also composed the text story for the piece, which serves as an after action report regarding that particular photo shoot. In this update by D. Minion, she imparts her perspective of Shayla’s July trip to Las Vegas. The BTS photo set she posted has 52 images, 34 of which depict Shayla in various modes of (un)dress. To represent the update I could have selected a picture of Shayla dining, drinking, or lounging about Las Vegas lounges, but instead chose the one above showing Chris King, whose photos made up the 08/01/12 update at Shayla.com. I selected it because the piece is (unintentionally?) hilarious from a compositional standpoint. Also note that Mr. King injured his left leg while on this assignment. At the turn of the century the major Adult companies used to demonstrate pretense toward artistic relevance by realeasing at least one big-budget story-driven feature right before the AVN Awards deadline. Jill Kelly Productions’ BIG release for 2001 was IMMORTAL, a mash-up of XANADU (1980) and WINGS OF DESIRE (1987). The photo set in this update was from the Shayla LaVeaux component of the IMMORTAL promotional poster series. Each of the JKP contract girls cast as Greek Muses posed against a blank screen, which allowed photo editors to photoshop them together later in a CGI cloud representing the perpetually cloudy Mt. Olympus. There were so many pictures taken that JKP was able to recycle the shots for other projects, such as the box art for SHAYLA’S FANTASIES (2001). IMMORTAL had an unprecedented amount of FX for a porn video, which so delayed completion that SHAYLA’S FANTASIES ended up being released first. Another reason for the delay was that Shayla’s sex scene was cut from IMMORTAL after she quarreled with director Michael Raven, despite her significant presence in all promotional material.
The video component is from the unrelated JKP release SHAYLA DOWN UNDER (2001); Scene 5 to be specific. Selected, probably, as a tribute to the movie’s director/producer/co-star, Shayla’s then-husband, Anthony, to whom I wish a belated….
